Good Morning Ticket Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe
Enjoy a tranquil early-morning trip to the Jungfraujoch Top of Europe with the attractively-priced Good Morning Ticket. Valid on the first train from May to October, from November to April also valid on the second train. In the period from May to October the return journey from the Jungfraujoch must be started by the latest 12.30h. In the winter months the return journey can be made at any time on the same day.

The Good Morning Ticket includes a reduction for the Kleine Scheidegg - Jungfraujoch section. You pay the normal fares to Kleine Scheidegg. Holders of Half-fare Cards, Swiss Cards and Eurail, Swiss & Flexi Passes already enjoy a better reduction than the Good Morning Ticket and don't have to travel on the first two trains.
The price for the Good Morning Ticket from Interlaken Ost is CHF 153.80 (normal fare CHF 177.80), from Wilderswil it might be a bit less.

Virgin Trains have linked up with Stena Line and Irish Ferries to offer through tickets on connecting services from the UK to Dublin.

Travel from London Euston, Watford Junction or Milton Keynes to Holyhead for a connecting ferry to Dun Laoghaire (Stena) or Dublin Ferryport (Irish Ferries).

Travel in 2009 - flights from and to many European destinations

This is only available for departing from a German airport (it seems).
You can fly Lufthansa to most of the European capitals for less than 100 Euro roundtrip (plus taxes), if you are a bit flexible in your time.
Comparing this to Ryanair from Frankfurt Hahn, it is a simple calculation of saving time and money. Ryanair definitely has its offers, but still it is a 1,5 hour drive from Frankfurt Airport by bus for 15 Euro one way. Plus: Ryanair airports are often also a bit far away from desired destinations, so additional transport costs and time upon your arrival. And Ryanair charges for the luggage. Lufthansa does not.

Check the Lufthansa website as above, make sure you chose: "fare driven", "return" and then for flexibility "yes, +/- 3 days).
A pricetable pops up, which usually contains several days with prices of less than 100 Euro.
For example (from Frankfurt International):
in November: Rome for 88 Euro, Madrid for 99 Euro,
in December: Stockholm for 99 Euro,
etc.
I checked some cities; it seems that these low prices are mostly for flights to the capitals. It works however also for Toulouse in France, so check your desired destination.

For me this is definitely a good deal, and I look up this first before checking on Ryanair.

I did learn the price calculation in the meantime, and the flight itself does cost only 12 Euro = round trip.
Now compare this with a Ryanair flight, where the prices are given in oneway.
Lufthansa takes you to the capitals of Europe for 6 Euro oneway ! And you don't have to go to the Ryanair airport, which would be 1,5 hours off Frankfurt for 12 Euro bus ticket oneway).
The rest of the price is kerosene and taxes.

Venice for 88 Euro return trip (for May 2007),
London for 88 Euro (summer 2008)
Bologna for 88 Euro (spring 2008)

Megatrain is an offshoot of Stagecoach who run several rail & bus franchises in the UK and also have a large stake in the Virgin Trains company. On this website, they offer a limited number of very cheap seats, either by rail or bus.

Tickets start at £1 and I would suggest trying this site if you are travelling shorter distances in the UK. The London to Bournemouth fares look especially good.

eg - the cheapest I can get a ticket from Edinburgh to Carlisle is £9.50 and that's with a railcard whereas booking a few weeks in advance on here only costs £1!
