How to book: go online. As the site is in French, here's a step-by-step guide: Select your departure city under "Ville de depart", then choose your destination under "Ville d'arrivée".

France is preselected, so change to Grande Bretagne to get the English version. Choose your options again, and leave 'comfort' on First Class. A big money and time saver is to purchase a Museum Pass. There might be different versions. This one can be purchased online in advance of travel or at train stations or museum entries. It pretty much pays for itself after two or three museum visits. One HUGE advantage is since its difficult to do the Louvre all in one day, you can go back as many times as you want and only pay once! After some price increases and usual "changes" there still are good deals on French rails.
SNCF international tariff is pretty degressive and such tickets are like railpasses on steroids: valid 2 month, unlimited stopovers, no limitation on days.

But there is a limitation: only interregional Intercity, fast and local trains can be used which do not require obligatory reservation. Such trains do exist and these are often better choice to visit the cathedrals in smaller cities because either they are on secondary lines or the express trains simply do not stop in small cities.

How to use the deal:
look at the cities and routes. If you like, print the ticket image with the routing out and take the print-out to any international ticket counter of most European railways. You will get the ticket as described for the price as described. The price is based on common international tariff (TCV), my favorite ticket calculator, www.jizdenka.cz gave me that price automatically and I briefly verified it.

There are many other options for about 35 or 40 different European cities.

I priced a trip for 6 nights in Paris in a 3 star hotel and the total airfare and hotel came to a little over $1700 per person or about $3500 for two people sharing a room. It appears to include taxes and fees in this price. Since I just got home from a trip where I paid $160 per night for a room, I think this is an excellent bargain.
