It's not a common event, so make sure you have your Russia citistar tickets. It's a unique performance, there won't be any rehearsal and the next opportunity will be in the USA (2017), Europe (2026) and Russia again (2030). The eclipse will be seen in full where you see the grey line: http://www.eclipse-2008.ru/tour/images/n So a good idea is to take the train to the main railway station, than go back to Tolmachevo or Sady (presumably by local train) Little addition to Lev's comment about Novosibirsk being not the most fanciest destination: true, but one can observe the eclipse fairly conveniently, without even staying in the city. Sample schedule: use the train number 44 departing Moscow 0:35 (better: go earlier to Yaroslavl, than Kostroma, train number 44 departs Kostroma at 7:32), arrive Novosibirsk at 7:16 (Moscow time). Continue with train number 10, departing Novosibirsk at 22:01 Moscow time, arrive Irkutsk at 04:16 (Moscow time). So one can see some of the "Golden Ring", see the Eclipse, always arrive/depart in convenient hours. Budapest-Moscow r/t by train Posted on: Mon January 07 16:55:04 2008 UTC Recently the Budapest-Moscow train price went up so much, it can be easily considered unreasonable: one-way is now over 150 Euro. But it's not that bad as it looks.
Consider, Budapest-Kosice round-trip is only 21.92 Euro. Also consider, Kosice is 99 km from Slovak-Ukrainian border. Hence, we can use Slovakia-Ukraina CITY-STAR ticket Kosice-Zernovo(GR) for 45.10 Euro and Zernovo(GR)-Moscow ticket bought in Kosice (Slovakia) for 17.90 (35.8 r/t) Hence the total from Budapest to Moscow round-trip would be: 21.92+35.8+45.10 = 102.82 Euro, that is only with one train change in Kosice, Slovakia. This is a good deal only for a single traveler and to destination in Russia not "beyond" Moscow. For more people and traveling further the CITY-STAR Slovakia-Russia is better than combining CITY-STAR Kosice-Ukraina with Russian international ticket. | Russia Train | CITY-STAR train tickets across Russia bought in Slovakia/2 Posted on: Mon January 07 16:55:00 2008 UTC Despite many changes December 9, 2007 the famous Slovakian CITY-STAR tickets to Russia via Belarus remain, but cost somewhat more - still a great deal. In my opinion, however it's not that great as going via Ukraine. It not just costs more but with exception of Ukrainian, Russian, Montenegrin and Serbian citizens, all other European citizens need Belarus visa. True, it's free for Poles and Baltic citizens but still a headache.
The tickets, like via Ukraine have 2-tier price: price/1: travel under 1500 in Russia each way: first person pays 187.6 Euro, second, third, fourth, fifth person pays 93.8 Euro for the round-trip. The price is regardless distance traveled in Slovakia and Ukraine. Kids pay 47 Euro. price/2: travel over 1500 in Russia each way: first person pays 255.6 Euro, second, third, fourth, fifth person pays 127.8 Euro for the round-trip. They have 2-tier price: price/1: travel under 1500 in Russia each way: first person pays 104 Euro, second, third, fourth, fifth person pays 52 Euro for the round-trip. The price is regardless distance traveled in Slovakia and Ukraine. Kids pay 26 Euro. price/2: travel over 1500 in Russia each way: first person pays 172 Euro, second, third, fourth, fifth person pays 86 Euro for the round-trip. The price is regardless distance traveled in Slovakia and Ukraine. Kids pay 43 Euro. Sample/1: My kids want to visit Tallin this year. We are moving to Budapest and actually our house is slightly outside of the city up in the hills, close to the Budapest-Esztergom rail line and road, about 40 minutes of pleasant drive to Sturovo, Slovakia. Obviously, a Sturovo-Bratislava-Zilina-Kosice-Chop-Ki If the entire "gang" comes, the price will be: 2 adults + one already big boy + 2 young teens, ergo: 104+52+52+26+26 = 260 Euro round-trip. Why? Because Zernovo(Gr)-Briansk-Moscow-St. Peterburg-Narva(Gr) is under 1500 km, precisely 1141 km. Sample/2: Two VT-ers, one from Australia and one from Serbia plan to travel between Belgrade and Beijing.
