The budget hotel chain Travelodge have just announced their 100 miles v £100 challenge aimed at helping families in the UK get away for cheap city breaks. The idea is that a family should be able to visit cities within 100 miles of their home with a one night stay at a Travelodge plus admission to attractions for under £100.

They have produced a number of factsheets with a suggested itinerary for a weekend break in 10 top UK cities, including attractions, places to eat, prices, contact information and a list of all the nearest Travelodge hotels.

Cities include,

London
Edinburgh
Bristol
Birmingham
Manchester
Milton Keynes
Liverpool
Leeds
Newcastle
Glasgow

Some of these are as cheap as £70 but prices are based on a £26 Traveloge room. If all rooms are booked at this price the next tier is usually £49 so it is still pretty cheap. Rooms must be booked at least 7 days in advance but with Travelodge the general rule is the earlier you book the cheaper the room.
