Large cross-Switzerland railtrip for max. 60 days: 161.50 Euro Posted on: Wed February 20 22:10:13 2008 UTC The international railway tariff (TCV) does allow some interesting creations.
This deal was created by yours truly. I took the famous TCV calculator "jizdenka" and tried to squeeze as much Switzerland into a single ticket as I could without losing the degressivity. And... Success. For the standard TCV conditions (60 days validity, no strings attached) and 161.50 Euro price we got a large trip within Switzerland: Geneve->Lausanne->St. Maurice->Brig->Oberwald->Reichenau->Chur->Sar Try to follow it on the map of Switzerland: http://www.bueker.net/trainspotting/map. The link to the ticket is here: http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/2661/ There is nothing to do with it. Just print it out and take to the INTERNATIONAL ticket counter in any European country to get the "real" ticket in exchange for it. To save further on the ticket: buy it in the country of East/Central Europe with a RAIL+ card (17-25 Euro for a 1 year period) and save further 25% Compare it with few meager days allowed in Eurail or Interrail single country railpass. http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/passes http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/passes http://www.interrail.net/index2.php?lang As we see, only "youth" Interrail offer (150 Euro, 8 days for European residents) is better, others are worse or much worse. Travel Between: Sun December 09, 2007 - Fri December 12, 2008 More info: http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/2661/ Comment on this Deal |

There are of course few little tricks :-)
1) I tried to "force" the ticket to be an International ticket of TCV tariff and issued according CIV rules. CIV will rule "60 days in 60 days" validity and Swiss domestic tariff is slightly MORE than the Swiss international tariff of the same distance. 2) How come this ticket is international? It's all Swiss, isn't it? No, there is a tiny French section, from Bellegarde to Geneve, 33 km. That 33 km makes the entire ticket international. Of course, if anyone would buy it outside of Switzerland, there is no need for that French section, Geneve alone is enough. The Bellegarde was for Swiss residents only or for who is already in Geneve. |
